FREE VPK & Summer VPK Education Programs
Our VPK and Summer VPK early learning programs can have a positive impact on your child’s future. VPK or Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program, are for children living in Florida who will be age four by September 1. If eligible, your child can participate in Florida’s FREE Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) education program. If your child turns age four after September 1, then you can participate in Florida’s FREE Summer VPK education program.
There are lots of benefits of our Early Learning and VPK Programs. Remember, the most important growth and development in the brain happen by age five. Your child’s ability to be attentive and to follow directions emerges in the early years. Structured learning programs like Summer VPK fosters the ability for later success in school and life.
Pre-K prepares children to be ready for school. Children who participate in this high Quality, early childhood education program usually:
- Develop better language skills
- Score higher in school readiness tests
- Have better social skills and fewer behavioral problems
- Are better prepared for Kindergarten, especially pre-reading, pre-math and social skill
Pre-K promotes a love for learning and enhances what a child learns at home instilling a
love of life-long learning. With this as a foundation, parents of students participating in
VPK and Summer VPK:
- Pay no fee if a Florida resident

Remember, for enrollment of any given school year, your child must age 4 by September 1st to qualify for the VPK program during the school year. For Summer VPK Enrollment, your child must turn 4 after September 1st.
VPK Education Program Curriculum focuses on reading, writing and social skills. This prepares a child to be ready for Kindergarten. Our VPK Program Options include:
- Option 1: School Year VPK with 540 instructional hours
- Option 2: Summer VPK with 300 instructional hours
All VPK Programs are required by law to meet certain standards. The ratios are 1 instructor to 11 children. The class size will not exceed 20 children in the school year program and 12 children in the summer program. All VPK instructors are required to have a minimum of a Child Development Associate degree for the school year program and a bachelor’s degree in early childhood or related fields for the summer program. We are very proud that our VPK teachers are very experienced and typically exceed the State’s requirements for teaching VPK and Summer VPK.
