Even if your preschooler will only be away from home for a few hours, the first day of school is a big step for someone wearing such small shoes. Help your child be ready for preschool with these tips.
The preschool classroom has a fun setting that focuses on your child’s development of new skills as their use of language grows daily, and their math and science reasoning ability begins to take off. Now that your child has experienced success with potty training and other preparatory activities, they are now ready to move on to the next level. Rattles to Tassels is a multidisciplinary learning center that works hard to ensure the success of your child’s individual skills and to help them further discover their new interests in academics and creative thinking through art expressions and outdoor learning while at play.
First Day Of Preschool Tip 1 – Don’t Rush
No one likes to race through their morning routine, especially when it’s the first time you are doing something. Your preschooler is no different. Be sure to get everyone up at a reasonable hour. Allow time for eating breakfast and tantrums.
First Day Of Preschool Tip 2 – Arrive Early
Arriving early allows time for your preschooler to get familiar with the classroom and spend a little one on one time with the teacher before everyone else arrives. It also allows time for your child to settle in before the action starts. The first day can be overwhelming for your child. It’s important for you to help make the process be as stress-free as possible.
First Day Of Preschool Tip 3 – Put On A Happy Face
You may be just as nervous as your child on the first day of preschool. Remember that nerves are contagious. Try to remain calm and supportive so that your child feels confident when s/he walks into the classroom.
First Day Of Preschool Tip 4 – Be Supportive, Keep Goodbyes Short
Never sneak out when your preschooler is looking away. Always say goodbye and tell them when you will be back to pick him or her up. Remember, it’s normal for kids to have a meltdown when it’s time to separate (though many don’t). Even if your child is screaming like a banchee, chances are s/he will be fine five minutes after you walk out the door. If it takes time for your little one to adjust, so don’t panic. The preschool teachers at Rattles to Tassels Learning Center have seen it all and we know just what to do. Don’t ever be afraid to ask one of our teachers for help getting your child comfortable with preschool.
